Connect the printer to the host computer and turn on the printer's power. Access the "Printers and Faxes" folder via the host computer's "Control Panel," right-click in a blank area, and select the "Add a printer" command to launch the Add Printer Wizard. Select "Local printer attached to this computer" and check the box labeled "Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer."
The host computer will then detect the new printer and quickly identify the connected device. Follow the on-screen prompts to insert the printer's driver disc into the optical drive; once the driver is installed, the printer's icon will appear in the "Printers and Faxes" folder.
Right-click the icon of the newly installed printer and select "Sharing" to open the printer's properties dialog box. Switch to the "Sharing" tab, select "Share this printer," and enter a desired share name (e.g., "CompaqIJ") in the "Share name" field. Finally, click the "OK" button to complete the sharing setup.
